The Float Life Drop Top Fender – Review

I originally had no intention of buying this fender. But when it caught my eye browsing thefloatlife.ca I became intrigued by the specifics of this unique Drop Top Fender from The Float Life. Then after watching the product video, I was soon parted with my money.

I’m not sure what beverage is hidden under that TFL Kooz, but Jeff must be a little buzzed as he taps into his inner Vince Offer for the sales pitch.

Definitely a hilarious intro with what could have been the Facebook comments from the last TFL product drop. Daaamn!!!

Some Other Things Noted From Watching The Float Life Drop Top Fender Product Video

It’s made from the same material as hockey helmets. What are hockey helmets made out of? I don’t know, but watching that BFO mallet bounce off has me sold.
Locked in tech. Keeps the fender top locked down like COVID-19.
Raised fender lips/tire guards. Remove the top fender piece to leave behind a raised fender lip. Perfect to prevent your feet from hitting the tire.
More usable area on the footpads.
Apparently, installation is pretty easy and I’ll figure it out 😂

A common question is: Do I need a fender on my onewheel? While this is a personal preference, here are some points to help you decide.

Just that. Top dropped, with the wheel exposed keeps the dopeness levels elevated!

The Drop Top Fender allows you to split the difference so to speak. Top on when it’s wet and top dropped when the sun is out. Win-Win!

An email confirmation, as well as regular updates, meant I knew when the fender was en route and due to be delivered. Although it didn’t take long, only two sleeps 😂, It was nice to keep the stoke fired while waiting for this sweet fender to arrive.

The Float Life Drop Top Fender Review – Opening The Box

TFL has stepped up with its product boxes. The gloss black outer box with the Float logo and classic “Float On My Friends” tag line. Nice! Then open the box to see the doodle art insert cradling the new fender pieces. It is the full experience now.

Installation

The install was simple and it’s right to say I figured it out pretty quickly.

The Look

Top on, the look is very similar to the Future Motion Onewheel Pint Fender. Top-down is where the Drop Top looks its best. It reminds me of the fenders on a street-legal Go-Kart like the Ariel Atom.

The Function – Lock, Drop, And Roll

The on-off function of the fender top is just as easy as Jeff makes it seem. And once it is on, it is ON. As for durability, I won’t be purposely rolling my wheel down a hill to test the strength of this fender. I can say, however, the build quality looks top-notch!
