Onewheel Fun Box Obstacle. The Onewheel has allowed riders to ride fun lines just about everywhere they go. But what if you can’t go far?
Building an Onewheel Fun Box / Obstacle lets you bring the party with you 🥳
Onewheel Fun Box Obstacle
WARNING: Full warning for anyone trying this type of obstacle. At some point, your Onewheel will slide out and you could fall and injure yourself or worse. Attempt at your own risk!!!
Design Criteria For This Obstacle
- Lightweight. Being light makes it easy to move, and easy to pack in and out of a vehicle when required.
- Low cost. All in, this fun box costs less than $30 CAD to build. Less if you already have wood, glue, and screws in your shop.
- Moderate Difficulty. Not too difficult, but difficult enough to build skills and progress your riding
- Expandable. Build it in a way that extra pieces can be added to make a larger obstacle.
Previous Obstacles We Have Built
We made the most of our time during the spring COVID-19 lockdown by using scrap wood to build these simple obstacles. Our latest incarnation is by far the most fun to session 🤙😀

The Materials

The How – How We Built This Onewheel Fun Box Obstacle
This is not so much a How-To, more me showing you how I made it. You can do it the same way, or you can draw inspiration from this post and make something with your own ideas.
Step-1 Source and Cut
We picked up our wood at Home Depot. While there we had their cut shop rip the plywood. Two pieces 48×8 and one off-cut piece left over. Our Home Depot won’t do miter cuts, so we cut those with our Circular Saw.
Step-2 Glue and Screw
Pre-assemble the obstacle and square up the ribs. Glue and screw everything together.
Step-3 Drop, Stomp, and Steeze. Ha Ha
This is not .pro level riding here, more like a way to build simple skills that can translate out on your favorite lines. But to quote Bodhi Harrison, “you gotta make it Steezy”.
Some tips to help stop your obstacle from sliding
- Use it on thick grass and on a flat and level surface.
- If you don’t have thick grass, you can stake down your Onewheel Fun Box to make the obstacle more solid.
Onewheel Fun Box Obstacle – Will It Float
If you don’t already have fun obstacles in your neighborhood, then building some small fun box type obstacles will definitely help your Onewheel skills progress.
The bonus is, with basic woodworking skills, you can build this in close to one hour
