Not sure if you need a DIY Onewheel Trunk Stand? Well, do you cringe as you take corners when your Onewheel is in the trunk? Fully expecting your wheel to slam into the side of your trunk. If you had a Onewheel Trunk Stand you can rest easy knowing your Onewheel is secure and your trunk interior won’t be scoured with new dents and scratches. Maybe you should DIY yourself a simple stand slash holder to keep in the trunk of your car for just this purpose.

DIY Onewheel Trunk Stand – Design Ideas
I really wanted to avoid using a jigsaw, but still, come out with a DIY Onewheel Trunk Stand that is aesthetically pleasing.
The Milk Crate Onewheel Stand
One simple and functional DIY option is to cut a milk crate. While this works well, it is just not pleasing to the eye, and when not in use, it could easily be mistaken for garbage. Just not my style!
No Power Tools
Although I used my Compact Mitre Saw to cut up all the pieces, you could build this DIY Onewheel Trunk Stand with a Mitre Box and Hand Saw. It would just take some of that old school elbow grease! Again, not my style😎
The Tools + Materials
- Mitre Saw
- Miter Box and Hand Saw
- Irwin Quick Clamps
- Woodshop Pencil
- One Step Polyurathane Stain
- Paint Brushes
- Extra Strength Wood Glue
- 1x3x8 SPF Lumber
- 1x8x4 Knotty Pine Board
The How
Step-1 Cutting Up All the Pieces
It took me a little over 30 minutes to cut up all the pieces.
DIY Onewheel Trunk Stand – Cut list (XR Version)
- 2 pieces 1”x3”5” with ends cut at 22.5 degrees
- 2 pieces 1”x3”x4-3/8” with ends cut at 45 degrees
- 4 pieces 1”x3”x7-3/4” with ends cut at 45 degrees
- 1 piece 1”x8”x12”
Step-2 Glue The Pieces Together
This part takes the longest as it needs to be done in three stages. First, you glue together the pieces for the hub sleeve and the wheel support.
Once the glue sets, you can glue those two pieces together.
Then you can glue the supports to the base.
Step-3 Trim Off The Hub Sleeve
The 1×3 lumber is not quite the perfect size for the Onewheel wheel hub depth, so it needs to be trimmed down about ¼”.
Step-4 Stain And Seal (optional)
This step is not mandatory, but it will give your stand a finished look and also make it more durable.
The Finished DIY Onewheel Trunk Stand
Now when you are rushing to meet your friends for a Onewheel session, you know your Wheels are secure in your new Stand.
