The first thing I did after getting my hands on my Onewheel Plus was to Pimp My Onewheel with a set of Float Sidekicks and Float Plates. But after a summer of hard riding, it is showing some serious wear. The weather is warming up and my Onewheel season is about to go into full send. So, I think it is the perfect time to give my Onewheel Plus a makeover.
Time To Give My Onewheel Plus A Makeover
The options for Onewheel accessories has really exploded in the past year, with both Future Motion and third-party manufacturers offering a plethora of quality products to keep your Onewheel looking fresh!
Fresh Set Of Onewheel Accessories
Let’s take a look at the sweet set of new accessories I have lined up ready as part of my Onewheel Plus Makeover.
Vinyl Rail Wrap
If you really wanna give your Onewheel a unique look then skinning your Onewheel with a Vinyl Rail Wrap is the way to go. We will be DIYing our Onewheel Rail Wrap on the cheap with some vinyl off amazon.
Float365 – Custom Rail Decal
A perfect way to show off your brand is with rolling advertising. Float365 has Custom Onewheel Rail Decals, printed with proportional dimensions to fit Onewheel Rails perfectly.
The Float Life – Float Sidekicks HD ( Crystal Clear )
Once the rails are wrapped and the decals installed, protect your work with some Float Sidekicks. These Crystal Clear sidekicks will show off the carbon fiber vinyl for all its glory!
ProRide Traction Pads ( Onetail+ Compatible )
As well as being a great grip tape option for your Onewheel. ProRide Traction Pads are a great way to add colors and patterns to your Onewheel Footpads. This Onetail+ compatible ProRide Traction Pad will fit perfectly with my black and yellow color scheme.
Now let’s Put This Onewheel Plus Makeover Together
Onewheel Tear-Down
The first thing I need to do is A Onewheel Tear-Down. To remove the old Float Sidekicks, Float Plates and clean the rails ready for the Vinyl Wrap. The old Sidekicks were very easy to get off, the high vis reflective tape, not so much!
Installing The Black Carbon Fibre Vinyl Wrap
My DIY Onewheel Vinyl Wrap Project turned out nice. Changing the color of your rails completely changes the look of your Onewheel.
Installing ProRide Onewheel Traction Pads
With a little heat from a heat gun, the old grip tape just peels right off. After a quick wipe with some solvent and the new pads were applied. I really like the rising sun pattern!
Adding the Float365 Custom Rail Decals
To truly customize my Onewheel Plus I ordered a set of custom decals from Float365. I almost didn’t order them as their international shipping costs were quite high, but after reaching out to Float365, they happily adjusted their shipping and gave me a discount to boot. Also, upon opening the package, I was pleasantly surprised to see one extra decal thrown in.
Don’t Forget The Crystal Clear Float Sidekicks
There are so many great colors and patterns available for Float Sidekicks and EIGHT2TEN Rail Guards. You could give your Onewheel a unique look without using a vinyl wrap. But, if you want to add Decals or stickers and not have them scrape off then a Vinyl Wrap and Crystal Clear Float Sidekicks is the only way to go. Lay the Clear Sidekicks over the top and those decals won’t scratch off the first time your Onewheel tumbles
The Finished Onewheel Plus Makeover
I love the new look of my Onewheel Plus after this easy makeover! The hardest part was cleaning off the high vis tape I had installed, lesson learned. There is something great about ripping around on a Onewheel that looks different from all the rest. I will more than likely install the Craft and Ride Spectrum Magnetic Fender. It will look amazing as part of my new Onewheel Plus Makeover.
