Insta360 GO Review
Why I chose The Insta360 GO
- So Small
I love how small this camera is. It takes up so little space I can always have it with me.
- Gimbal Smooth Footage
The Go features Insta360’s proprietary Flowstate stabilization. No need for bulky gimbals or time-consuming post-production edits.
- Easy File Transfer To Mobile
I like to keep things simple, being able to edit quickly right on my iPhone is so convenient
Insta360 Go Stabilized Camera Bundle – What’s In The Box
I picked this up from the apple store in the bundle option. Honestly, most of the included accessories don’t really fit with my style. Or, they are kind of finicky and don’t really work with ease.
Take the easy grip for example, in theory, it is a handy little selfie stick but in use, it is a PITA! It’s so much easier to just put the magnetic pivot stand on a proper selfie stick. Instead, I use this mini metal tripod handle and a small articulating arm. As well as this selfie stick tripod from Smatree.
Cheap Plastic – Broken Pivot Stand Base
The idea is great, but the design of the Pivot Stand Base lacks a little. Some type of metal or aluminum frame would be good to stop it from breaking. Mine broke pretty quickly after purchase.
Pivot Stand Base – GoPro Mount Mod
The sticky base idea is Gold, so I resurrected it with a GoPro tripod adapter and some construction adhesive 🙌. The sticky pad has more than enough grip for the added weight and using this GoPro mount opens up a new world of mounting possibilities.
Using The Insta360 GO
In use, this little camera is extremely fun. I find myself using this camera all the time. The small size and accessory options make it easy to get quick clips in some unique angles
Battery Goes Flat When Not Being Used
This is kind of annoying, and I have been caught out by it on a couple of occasions. If you let the Go sit for more than a week you need to remember to charge it before you plan to use it. It is frustrating to pull it out and find the charge has depleted🤬
The App
Uploading Files To Your Phone
Plugging the Go into your phone is kind of finicky, I find it often takes a few tries to get it to connect. And having to remove my phone case every time is getting pretty old. That being said, once it is connected, files transfer relatively quickly.
Editing
Editing in the Insta360go app is about as easy as it gets, and could be even easier using Flashcut. Personally I find it easier to just make my own cuts and sprinkle in transitions sparingly.
Worth The Price – YES!
All of my gripes aside, the fact that this camera “only” costs $250 helps reduce the stress when mounting it in some potentially damaging locations. The functionality of this camera is by far worth the small price tag.
Insta360 Go Review – The Round Out
My main takeaway from using the Insta360 Go is that you don’t need the latest and greatest action cam to make fun videos for social media. The Go keeps things simple and in turn, keeps it fun.
