DIY Onewheel Pint Traction Pad. You simply can’t beat the convenience of a pre-cut Traction Pad, but if you are trying to save some money you should look at a DIY option.
I prefer a traction pad because it has a happy medium between grip and slip. Your feet are locked in, but if you need to adjust your stance, there is enough slip to move your feet without stopping or jumping. The foam pad gives you a little cushioning and the diamond pattern looks impressive!
DIY Onewheel Pint Traction Pad
After enjoying ProRide traction pads for a season, I really wanted to try them on my Pint. But with the Canadian dollar being what it is, I couldn’t justify the cost. I was looking to get that same surf traction feeling at a much lower cost. In saying that, now we have added the 3Dway Concave Bumpers to the Pint, using ProRide is not even an option. I guess it’s time to try a DIY Onewheel Pint Traction Pad.

Universal Traction Pad
Designed for use on boat decks, surfboards, skimboards, etc… Foammaker sheets have enough area to grip out multiple boards. And, with color choices to get creative, this trimmable sheet style, a universal traction pad is a perfect choice.
Many Color Choices
Easy Peel And Stick Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive
Easy, peel and stick backing means the install couldn’t be easier. Simply Peel off the backing, press it down and the pressure-sensitive 3M adhesive will secure the grip in place.
Now, Let’s Get Into It!
How To Install DIY Traction Pad On A Onewheel
Removing Your Grip Tape
The first thing you need to do is prepare your Onewheels Footpads by removing the grip tape. We already have a full post on How To Remove Onewheel Griptape so we are going to skip forward to the good part.
Rough Cut
Cut off a piece of traction sheet roughly half an inch bigger than the surface area of your Footpad. To fit the 3Dway bumpers I notched out two corners. This gives access to the screws in case the Footpad needs to be removed at some point.
Peel And Stick
Peel off the backing and carefully line up the wheel side then press down sticking the grip into place.
Trim Off Excess
Using a sharp utility knife, sliding your knife against the pad, trim away the overhanging grip. Cutting at a consistent angle will help to not cut away too much.
Press Down Some More
The adhesive on the traction pad is pressure sensitive. Use a small hand roller if you have one, otherwise, just take your time and press it down well!
DIY Onewheel Traction Pad – Will It Float?
The quality of this traction pad doesn’t match up to ProRide traction pads, and you know you are getting a quality product from them. With that being said, if you are looking for a fun project to pass the time, you should try installing a DIY Onewheel Traction Pad.
